The event was a massive success in terms of being a historic first, and there were many unforeseen silver linings of the pandemic that came to light. In record time, Virtual Pride gave 28 pride organizations a voice using GayTravel’s digital megaphone that trended on Twitter. With hundreds of Pride Parades and Events either canceled or postponed across the US in 2020, GayTravel stepped up and hosted an event to keep the spirit of Pride alive! 28 Prides on June 28th, 2020, on the 50th Anniversary of the first pride march. While there is still much work to be done, the positive wave of momentum continues to grow, and prejudice is being paved over with pride worldwide! Virtual Pride While Pride events vary from place to place, they serve the world by raising awareness and acceptance of LGBTQ+ people worldwide. In many countries where discrimination or persecution still exists, Gay Pride events worldwide help break down barriers and bring people together. Vallarta Pride is always a party in Mexico! Pride and Prejudice In Europe, Berlin, Madrid, Cologne, Paris, Rome, London, and Copenhagen are the biggest. Sao Paolo, Brazil in South America, and Toronto and Banff in North America are also very popular. NYC Pride has become a focal point for celebration worldwide, with millions gathering together. Other major Pride Events in the United States include: Los Angeles (LA Pride), San Diego Pride, San Francisco Pride, Chicago Pride Fest, Houston LGBTQ+ Pride Celebration, Boston Pride, Denver Pride, Palm Springs Pride, The Stonewall Columbus Pride Festival, Annapolis Pride Parade & Festival, Pride Palooza in the Park (Binghamton, NY), The Twin Cities Pride Festival in Minneapolis, Honolulu Pride, and Atlanta Pride. Waving pride flags in the United States has been happening for over 50 years since the first pride parade took place in New York City on June 28, 1970, one year after the Stonewall Riots of 1969.

WorldPride in Copenhagen 2021 included an extensive human rights program under the umbrella Human Rights Forum."Pride," or "Gay Pride" as it is also known, has transformed from a "day" or a "weekend" or a "month" of celebration to PRIDE 365! For those who ask, when is Pride Month? It's typically considered to be in June (the first Pride Parade took place in New York City on June 28, 1970). WorldPride House was the centre of activities in Malmö, Sweden, just a short train ride away and hosted performances, lectures, debates and much more. On Saturday 21 August we’ll took to the streets in six WorldPride Marches starting at different points in Copenhagen and all meeting at the Closing Ceremony in Fælledparken. WorldPride Square in Copenhagen The Pride March WorldPride Square was a focal point and a place to meet your friends, relax, and take in the vibe. We’ll hosted selected high quality food outlets, Copenhagen 2021 bars, booths from some of our partners, and a photography exhibition. WorldPride Square at Rådhuspladsen right in the middle of Copenhagen was an impressive village for all Copenhagen 2021 participants to gather throughout the day and in the evening. On Saturday 21 August, the official Closing Ceremony brought an end to our event with spectacular performances, speeches including from Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and HRH The Crown Princess of Denmark and handovers of WorldPride, EuroGames and EuroPride to the next hosts. Copenhagen’s iconic Drag Night took place on Friday 20 August and was live streamed globally in partnership with Time Out. Under the Rainbow on Thursday 19 August showcased LGBTI+ talent from Denmark, Sweden, and the rest of the world. However, from KB Hallen we had three nights of concerts which were be live-streamed to Fælledparken and WorldPride Square and around the world. Concerts and CeremoniesĬOVID19 restrictions meant we couldn’t hold the Opening Ceremony in WorldPride Square.
WorldPride in Copenhagen 2021 was a celebration of equality, arts and human rights proudly hosted by Copenhagen Pride in collaboration with Malmö Pride. Thousands of people from near and far joined us in Copenhagen and Malmö to celebrate our community and pave the way to a more equal and inclusive world.
